Let's Dive in

wedding tips

Let my experience inform your experience. Here are a few tips and tricks to make the day run smoother and get the best photographs. When you work with me you’ll also get my guide to looking great on camera. It’s full of all of my tips from years of photographing weddings. You’ll get all of the secrets from how to look natural in your pictures, to suggestions for how not to forget small details that make a huge impact in your photos.

wedding tip #1

Relax and enjoy the ride

This is supposed to be a party! A celebration of love with your nearest and dearest. Don’t get too deep in the weeds of seating chart stress or wedding favors.

wedding tip #2

Keep photos in mind when organizing your timeline

We will talk through all of the timing for photos happening throughout the day so that we make sure we’ve got enough time to get everything covered, but in the initial phases of planning, you can assume that you’ll want photos to begin an hour to an hour and a half before you head out to either your first look or ceremony. You’ll want to work in another hour and a half to two hours for portraits plus family formals. Time has a way of disappearing on the wedding day, so it’s good to err on the side of too much.

wedding tip #3

Consider asking your guests not to take out their cell phones during the ceremony

You don’t want a sea of screens in your photos, your uncle Bob leaning into the aisle blocking your face as you’re coming down the aisle. They’ll have the rest of the night to take all the cell photos they want, and you’ll have guests who are truly present and in the moment watching you get married.

wedding tip #4

Getting ready - choose a space that is clean and open

Neutral colors and good natural light. Consider a space that would make for stunning bride or groom portraits.

wedding tip #5

Choose vendors who you have a good vibe with

Their energy is contributing to the feeling of the whole day.

wedding tip #6

In photos - motion is your friend

That doesn’t mean sprinting, but any time you are using your hands or moving into eachother, and not forcing a smile for 45 seconds you are going to look more natural (it’s hard to look bright and in the moment with a frozen smile).

wedding tip #7

Consider a point person for family formals wrangling

If you are using a planner, they will often have someone who can help with this, but if not, then choose someone from the wedding party to be Chief Cat Herder. It’s very helpful to tick off those lineups and get you back to your celebration faster!

wedding tip #8

Finally, HAVE FUN!!!

Love each other like nobody else can. Everyone, including me, is here to root for you and your love. Take it all in, and enjoy every moment of the amazing day you’ve created!

what to expect

1. Discovery call

First, let’s get to know each other a little. I want to hear all of the exciting plans so far. And if you want to tell me a little bit about yourselves, I’d love to hear some great stories about you two. You can ask me any questions you might have, and I’ll tell you all about what it’s like to work with me, and what to expect. You’re going to want to make sure we have a great vibe together. After all, I’d be with you, your families and your friends, throughout your entire wedding day. Once we know we’re a great fit, we celebrate!

2. Engagement

Now that we’re on our way, we’re going to want to plan your amazing engagement session. We’ll choose the perfect place for your engagement photos. Whether you want to get all decked out in cocktail attire or keep it nice & casual in jeans, we’ll talk through the look and feel of the shoot. I love to help with wardrobe selection, outfit changes, & special locations. Once we have a plan we’ll have our shoot during the golden hour just before sunset for that dreamy, perfect light. Guaranteed gorgeous.

3. Wedding day

I want know what is most important to you, what your dreams are for your wedding. What you want remembered forever. We will talk and be in touch throughout the months leading up to the big day. We’ll go over the timeline, making sure we’ve set aside enough time for all of the photos. The goal is always to have enough time to get all the gorgeous pictures we want, while also having you done and back in to celebrate with your friends and families as soon as possible. We are going to soak up every minute and have so much fun.

4. Albums

Fine italian leathers and imported linen covers, thick luxurious papers, these albums are simply stunning. An album is truly such a meaningful way to have all of your most precious moments beautifully tied together to tell the story of your day. It really is special to have an actual book you can feel and touch, and look through with your loved ones. A true heirloom, it will be a treasure to pass down in your family for generations.
