KIND WORDS

”The photos are amazing! Thank you so much for capturing the essence of our family, these mean so much to us! I can't stop looking at them.”

Lindsey

Family

“You will never have this day with your children again. Tomorrow they will be a little bigger than they are today. This day is a gift. Breathe and notice. Smell and touch them; study their faces and little feet and pay attention. Relish the charms of the present. Enjoy today.”

Jen Hatmaker

Tiny giggles and wild energy, sweet little faces and magical wonder… You want to have it all forever. As a mother, I understand all too well how fast it all goes by, and how important it is to capture these moments that are so fleeting. They may grow up, but you will always have these special moments frozen in time.

Portrait

Everyone should have a portrait session at some point in their lives, and have at least one photograph that makes them feel like a million bucks. Capturing you at your most natural candid self, an editorial styled shoot, a sexy boudoir session just because you’re hot, damnit. Whatever makes you feel truly seen and captures your unique strength and beauty.

Senior

Such a special time in your child’s life as they prepare to leave the nest. That tender moment between needing you for everything and flying off on their own should be honored and documented in a way that really shows who they are at this momentous time in their lives.

Do you shoot destination weddings?

Yes! And I love them. Combining my two favorite things - weddings & travel - I'm on board (the boat, plane or train). I've photographed weddings & events all over the world from Paris to Morocco, on Caribbean beaches & atop majestic mountains. Tell me your dream destination, and let's go.

Do you shoot film or digital?

I am one hundred percent digital now, even though I spent my first 10 years shooting with film. The creative latitude that digital gives is beyond compare. When I shoot, I not only shoot for the moment, but have a clear vision of what that finished image will look like. By shooting digitally, the possibilities are limitless!

Where are you located?

I live in Lexington, just outside of Boston. I photograph weddings all over Massachusetts and throughout New England and New York,  as well as throughout the US, and select destination weddings around the world.

What experience do you have?

I’ve been a photographer since I graduated from college with a degree in photojournalism. I started my love of photography back in the age of film. With film you couldn’t fix a bad exposure with fancy software. You had to get it right when you took the picture with the proper settings on the camera. I believe this makes for my strong ability to get the shot right in the moment and to be able to work fast to get incredible images.  Sometimes, our planned time for your couple’s session & family portraits gets cut in half. And sometimes an unexpected, incredible moment happens, and you want to know your photographer will not only get it, but that she can be flexible and deliver in ever changing circumstances.
As a full-time wedding photographer I have photographed many weddings from intimate City Hall elopements  to 400+ person luxury extravaganzas. I’ve documented myriad religions and cultural traditions, same-sex marriages and non-religious ceremonies. I can’t wait to see what you’ve got planned for your celebration!

Are you part of any professional associations, or do you have specific training in your field?

I am a member of the Photographers Association of America (PPA), an organization recognizing professional photographers and providing them community, accreditation, and even insurance. As mentioned above, I am trained as a photojournalist, and that background informs the way I take pictures. I have a documentary style and like to let the emotions and ‘moments’ of the day happen naturally as much as possible.

We love your style, but would love to have traditional portraiture. Is this something you do?

I do traditional portraiture at almost every wedding. Even the most modern couples still want the heirlooms that family formals create. I try to keep those sessions as loose, fun, and comfortable as possible. I still like them to show off your personality. We will spend only 30 – 45 minutes on any “formal” posed family and group photographs out of a typical 8 hour day. Your couple’s session is a mix of candid and gently & artfully posed shots that really shows off your unique love.

Are you familiar with our particular cultural or religious tradition?

I have been blessed to have photographed many different types of weddings. I’ve documented Catholic, Jewish, Hindu, Muslim, Buddhist, Episcopalian, Orthodox Greek & Russian, non-denominational, Cambodian and Thai, Korean, Indian and Persian ceremonies and more.  If you are having a wedding that is not listed here, I would absolutely love to learn all about the customs and events. I  love to see both the unique nature of so many cultures, while also marveling at common threads I see connecting nearly all marriage ceremonies.

Do you use a second photographer?

Yes. For most weddings a second photographer is used so that I can ensure the most thorough coverage – we don’t want to miss a thing! Some weddings, usually very small, intimate affairs, do not require a second photographer, and several of the weddings you’ve seen on my website were shot solely by me. Once I understand your wedding and photography requirements, I can see whether a second photographer would be best for your wedding.

Should we do an engagement session?

Yes, yes YES. While not required, an engagement session is not only another opportunity for you to have amazing photos, it’s the perfect way for us to get to know each other on and off camera. You’ll get to see what it’s like to work with me, in a relaxed setting. And the best part, you’ll get to see how fun and easy - and NOT awkward!- it is. I am practically allergic to bad prom poses. Jump shots make me break out in hives. I promise that knowing all this, and having seen just how spectacular you’ll look in your engagement photos will put your mind right at ease, and on the wedding day we’ll already know your best camera selves. This is why all of my collections include a complimentary engagement session.

Do you offer albums?

Yes! And the albums we offer are GORGEOUS! I always recommend having an album as part of your collection, and albums are included in some already. And if it’s not, we can always create and add an album later at any time. It is such a meaningful way to have all of your most precious moments beautifully tied together to tell the story of your day. Bound in beautiful imported materials, crafted with luxurious papers, and available with overlay or flushmount, these always”lay flat” pages have no center breaks so you can see every piece of every photo. A true heirloom you’ll cherish and pass down to your loved ones; it will be in your family for generations to come.

How much do you charge?

Pricing is as varied as the weddings I shoot. Ranging from intimate elopements that are just a few hours to multi-day celebrations with hundreds of people, each event is special, and every wedding is unique. Let’s get in touch so I can hear all the exciting details, and make sure we create the perfect collection just for you. We’ll make sure we’ve got everything covered - ensuring you have everything you want, and nothing you don’t need. Collections start at  at $4600.

How do we book you?

Please use the “Contact” link in the menu at the top of this website. You can also send an email to hello@julielippert.com, and I can tell you if I’m available for your wedding date and also learn more about your wedding and photography needs. A signed contract and deposit reserves your wedding date. If I’m already booked for your date, I am happy to recommend another photographer you can trust.

Can we meet with you again as we get closer to our wedding?

Yes! It’s nice to get to know each other a little better and we can discuss your wedding in more detail and go over the day’s schedule and shot lists. You can also contact me via email or phone as often as you wish to discuss your wedding and photography needs. Don’t worry: we’ll feel like best buds by the time the big day arrives.

When we will see our photos?

Your images will be available in a bespoke private online gallery within 4 weeks of your wedding. And sometimes I’ll give a sneak peak of a few favorites as I’m editing and can’t contain my excitement.

What equipment do you use?

I use professional-level Canon digital cameras both mirrored and mirrorless,  and Canon L-series lenses with backups. I also use Professional flashes and additional lighting when necessary.

Do you have insurance?

Julie Lippert Photography is fully insured through Lockton Affinity LLC, and the Professional Photographers of America. Many venues require insurance in order to work on the premises.
